Writer is a Markdown document editor developed by Zhao Xin (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our application.


Information We Do Not Collect

Writer is a document editor designed to work locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your document content or personal notes to our own servers.

Your documents, settings, and preferences are stored entirely on your device or in your personal cloud account when you choose to use a third-party cloud provider.


Android-Specific Disclosures

Permissions Used on Android

Writer for Android declares the following permissions:

Writer does not request sensitive Android runtime permissions such as Contacts, Location, Microphone, SMS, or Call Logs.

In-App Purchases and Subscription Processing

Writer for Android offers paid features through Google Play Billing and uses RevenueCat as a subscription management platform.

This may include transaction status, product identifiers, and subscription entitlement information required to unlock paid features. We do not use this data for advertising.

To provide trial and purchase-state continuity on your device, Writer stores limited purchase-state metadata locally (for example, trial start timestamp and purchase-state flags) using on-device app storage.

This local metadata is used only for product functionality and is not your document content.


Photo Library Access (iOS)

When you use Writer on iOS and choose to insert images from your photo library, the app requests access to your Photos framework solely for the purpose of selecting images to embed in your documents.


Document Storage and Cloud Providers

Writer stores your documents locally on your device by default. If you choose to save files in third-party cloud services (for example, iCloud, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.), those files are governed by the privacy policies of those providers.

We do not control, and may not have access to, your data stored in those third-party accounts.

Children’s Privacy

Writer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the email address below and we will promptly delete such information.


Data Deletion and User Requests

You can delete your documents at any time directly on your device or in your chosen cloud storage account.

For purchase/account-related data processed by third-party providers (such as Google Play or RevenueCat), deletion and retention are subject to those providers’ policies and legal obligations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
