Thank you for choosing SleepTap. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data SleepTap collects, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your data.
SleepTap integrates with Apple Health to provide personalized sleep and energy insights. With your permission, SleepTap accesses the following health data:
Sleep Analysis: Sleep duration and sleep stages are read from HealthKit to calculate your Energy Score. When you log a “Wake Up” event, SleepTap writes calculated sleep sessions back to HealthKit.
Activity Summary: Daily activity ring data (move calories, exercise minutes, stand hours) is read from HealthKit’s activity summary to factor into your Energy Score. This data comes from your Apple Watch activity rings and does not require access to raw step count, heart rate, or other individual metrics.
HealthKit data is processed locally on your device and is not shared with any third parties.
SleepTap can automatically detect when you fall asleep using your iPhone’s microphone and motion sensors (accelerometer):
Microphone: Ambient audio is analyzed locally on-device in short 5-second windows. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted. Detection automatically stops after 30 minutes if no sleep is confirmed.
Motion: Accelerometer data is used in combination with audio to detect stillness patterns associated with sleep onset. Motion data is processed locally and is not stored or transmitted.
You can enable or disable automatic sleep detection at any time in the app’s Settings.
SleepTap uses WeatherKit to provide sunlight planning and weather advisories. This requires your approximate device location. Location data is used solely for fetching local weather conditions and is not stored or shared with any third parties. You may revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.
SleepTap includes an Apple Watch companion app. When paired, the Watch app can detect sleep using wrist motion and heart rate, and sync sleep events back to the iPhone app. Watch data remains on-device and between your iPhone and Watch via end-to-end encrypted WatchConnectivity communication.
SleepTap uses iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your sleep settings, reminders, and preferences across your devices. No health data is stored in iCloud. You can disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings.
SleepTap sends local notifications to remind you about bedtime, wake-up, sunlight sessions, and mood check-ins. Notification scheduling and delivery are handled entirely on-device. No notification data is sent to external servers.
SleepTap uses AlarmKit on supported devices (iOS 18+) to schedule sunlight countdown alarms. Alarm events are used locally and do not involve any external servers.
SleepTap stores the following data locally on your device using UserDefaults and SwiftData:
Sleep timeline events (bedtime, wake-up timestamps)
Sleep cycle settings and preferences
Mood check-in records
Sunlight session history
Notification schedules
SleepTap does not sell, rent, or share your personal health data with any third parties, advertisers, or analytics services. All data processing occurs on your device or between your paired devices.
You can delete all data stored by SleepTap at any time by uninstalling the app. To remove data stored in HealthKit, use the Health app on your iPhone.
You have full control over your data:

Location: Grant or revoke access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > SleepTap
Microphone: Grant or revoke access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > SleepTap
iCloud: Sign out of iCloud in iOS Settings to stop syncing
SleepTap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
